HOW TO GET HERE FROM MEXICO CITY
By car: Take the Mexico-Pachuca divided toll-highway located in the Northern part of Mexico City.
Before arriving to Pachuca, take the exit towards Actopan. Upon arriving in Actopan, travel through & follow the signs to Ixmiquilpan. Upon arriving in Ixmiquilpan look for the blue signs announcing Grutas Tolantongo. The signs will take you around the perimeter of Ixmiquilpan & lead you to Cardonal. Take the exit to Grutas before you arrive in Cardonal.
By bus: Purchase a bus ticket to Ixmiquilpan at the enormous bus terminal known as Central Camionera del Norte. Tickets can purchased from P.A.I., Flecha Roja, Valle del Mezquital, or Omnibus de México. Buses normally depart from gates 7 or 8. Upon arrival in Ixmiquilpan´s bus depot, board a taxi or the shuttle van that goes into Ixmiquilpan. Ask where to board a shuttle van that goes to Cardonal-Grutas Tolantongo or board another taxi to take you directly. Travel time is 3-4 hours.
